Elections and Registration


Burke County Board of Elections and Registration is responsible for maintaining all voter registration files, updating any and all information relating to voter registration into the State computer system, as well as, maintaining hard copy files.

Executing  efficient, secure, and convenient elections for the voting public; hire, train and maintain poll workers records; test and maintain all election equipment; acquire and maintain polling locations, qualify candidates; and we are the local qualifying authority for the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission.  County’s website connects to the Secretary of State website for public knowledge of elections and Registration.

NOTICE OF ELECTION

TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF BURKE COUNTY, GEORGIA

            NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 8th day of November 2016, an election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Burke County, Georgia (“the County”), at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the County for their determination the question of whether a one percent county special purpose local option sales and use tax (the “SPLOST”) shall be imposed on all sales and uses in the special district created in the County for a period of six years for the raising of approximately $30,293,940  for the purpose of funding capital outlay projects (“the Projects”) specified in the form of the ballot set forth below. 

      “(  ) Yes           Shall a special one percent sales and use tax be imposed in the special district of Burke County for a period of time not to exceed 6 years for the raising of an estimated amount of $30,293,940 forthe purpose of (1) funding Road & Bridge Improvements, Recreation Facility Improvements, Airport Improvements, the EOC/911 Center Project, an Animal Shelter, Jail Improvements, EMA Improvements, EMS Equipment, Fire Equipment, Law Enforcement Equipment, Hospital Equipment & Renovations, Development Authority – Development of Westside Industrial Park, and Building Construction & Renovation projects for  Burke County; (2) for funding Water Capital Improvements, Sewer Capital Improvements, Stormdrain Capital Improvements, Road &Street Improvements, Recreation Improvements, Building Capital Improvements, and Equipment for the City of Waynesboro; (3) Water & Sewer Improvements, Downtown Façade Project, Capital Equipment and Roads Paving and Sidewalks for the City of Sardis; (4) Repairs to Roof on Old School Building, Water & Sewer Improvements, Major Police Equipment, Community House Improvements, Street & Road Improvements/Beautification and Equipment for the City of Midville; (5) Furnishings, Building Renovations, Installation of Sidewalks and Creation of a SmallPark for the Town of Girard; and, (6) for  funding for Water and Sewer System Projects, Streets & Drainage Improvements and Equipment, City Hall & Multipurpose Building Projects, Parks & Recreation Improvements & Equipment and Land Acquisition for City of Keysville; and (7) Water System Improvements for the City of Vidette?
