Burke County EMA has 12 stations that serve the citizens of Burke County. Headquarters is located at the intersection of Highway 24 & U.S. Highway 25 Bypass near Waynesboro and is the largest station. There are 11 other stations throughout the county. Each station has cross-trained employees. Employees are either a firefighter/paramedic or a firefighter/emergency medical technician. The cross-training allows each station to cover both fire services and emergency medical services in their territory.
PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION FOR "ICE STORM" FEBRUARY 10-14, 2014
FEMA/United States Homeland Security has declared a Presidential Declaration for the State of Georgia. This declaration opens up assistance for state and local government and non-profit organizations (such as utility co-ops).
This aid/assistance is NOT available to individuals/private property owners. Uninsured, private property damage did not reach FEMA’s threshold for allowing individual assistance to be open or declared.
Burke County is one of the counties in the State of Georgia that federal disaster aid has been made available.
This aid is to help state and local governments in cost-recovery efforts incurred as a result of responding to and recovering from the recent “Ice Storm”.
This aid is on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of public facilities damaged as a result of the recent “Ice Storm”.
