Bids Awarded on New Judicial Center

The Finance Committee of the Burke County Board of Commissioners has awarded bids for construction of the new Judicial Center at their meeting on April 12th. McKnight Construction of Augusta was awarded the bid for construction of the building. They were the low bidder out of six contractors on this project. The bid from McKnight Construction for the building was $16,913,000. The Committee also awarded the bid for Audio Visual and Access Control Equipment to Micro Technology Consultants of Warner Robins, Georgia. Their bid was was the lowest of five bidders on the project at $296,203.75.
This project is being built without debt. It is funded through a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) approved by the voters in 2010 and by the accumulated savings in the general fund by coming in under budget for the last seven years.
