• Property and Motor Vehicle Taxes

    Property owners can pay their 2016 Taxes now. Tax bills will be arriving in the mail in a few days but you can also look up the amount due on the Tax Commissioners page on this website. Taxes can be paid online, by mail or in person at the Tax Commissioners Office. For those who have motor vehicle taxes due in January, you should look up the amount and pay online or in the office. Taxes are due by your birthday even if the notice does not arrive by that date. You can check both property taxes and motor vehicle taxes at the link below:

  • Hurricane Matthew Flooding Closes Two County Roads

    Gordon Road near Sardis and Perry Road near Girard were both washed out by the heavy rains associated with Hurricane Matthew over the weekend. The roads are closed to through traffic but can be accessed at either end for local travel. Both roads are expected to be repaired this week.

    PROCLAMATION CONSTITUTION WEEK WHEREAS: September 17, 2016, marks the two hundred twenty-ninth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and WHEREAS: It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to the magnificent document and its memorable anniversary; and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion; and WHEREAS: Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week, NOW, THEREFORE I, R. Wayne Crockett, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Chairperson of the County Commissioners of the County of Burke (in the City of) Waynesboro do hereby proclaim the week of September 17 through 23 as CONSTITUTION WEEK AND ask our citizens to reaffirm the ideals which the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the County to be affixed this 13th day of September of the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
