During the allowed 14-day closure window, drivers may use the prepared detour via SR 56 SPUR/River Road, SR 80 and SR 23. Local traffic will be allowed up to a certain point. They got off to a good start with a victory in Savannah, Georgia, in late 1778. Their next target was Augusta. In mid-January, a group of Patriots gathered at the Burke County Jail, just south of Augusta. They wanted to plan their next move.
