CITY OF WAYNESBORO GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING PERMITS
Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code and the State of Georgia or to cause any such work to be done shall first make application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit.
The purpose of these Guidelines is to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazard attributed to the built environment.
THE FOLLOWING IS NEEDED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT:
1. Contractors must have a State of Georgia license;
2. Proof of contractor's insurance;
3. Permit application must be obtained before starting job;
4. Owners may obtain permit if he/she owns property;
5. Business owners must have a general contractor to obtain permit
by Georgia law;
6. An inspection must be done prior to completion of specific
job;
7. Emergency repairs must be submitted next business day
CITY OF WAYNESBORO BUILDING PERMIT FEES
The general building permit includes plumbing, temporary and permanent electrical and mechanical permits. Other types of construction (commercial, light commercial, institutional, etc) will be permitted by each discipline.

Educational, Government, and Religious - $100.00
FEE SCHEDULE FOR THE JOB TYPE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
$100.00 for the first $1,000.00 of construction cost plus $5.00 for each additional $1,000.00.
MISCELLANEOUS PERMITS AND FEES
Emergency Inspections - $75.00
Miscellaneous Inspections - $50.00
Personal Care Facilities (<6 beds)- $50.00
Services Meter Inspection - $50.00
*Work started without a permit fee will result in a double permit fee.
